After about 8 years of construction, the Lincoln Memorial was dedicated in 1922, by President Taft, in honor of President Abraham Lincoln.
The stately architecture and iconic Lincoln are just two of many, many things happening on the property.
Visit the Lincoln Memorial NPS Website to learn more about the steps, reflecting pools, interior floor plan, inscriptions, murals, the history, Lincoln’s life, and the construction; as well as the more recent modern history, such as the steps of the memorial being the location where Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered his “I Have a Dream” speech.
