Midnight in Death Valley – Death Valley National Park – Death Valley, California – 12/06/2019
Midnight Adventures can often be the best kind of adventures. But, let me tell you, It’s DARK in Death Valley! And you can’t see much of ANYTHING. So, we can certainly say we were here. But, it’s also HIGH on our list of things to get back to as soon as we can! Along with all of the other California National Parks. But driving through the park, not being able to see a THING… Fun, yes. But it will be that much more awesome when we can actually see and experience Death Valley in the daytime, with our feet on…

A Late Night in Rhyolite Historic Site: A Nevada Ghost Town – Rhyolite, Nevada – 12/06/2019
A friend of mine told us about the Death Valley Ghost Town of Rhyolite. The Rhyolite Historic Townsite was a gold rush era boomtown that came to life in 1904. Gone almost as quickly as it arrived, the town was completely abandoned by 1916. We did intend to arrive during the day to explore the historic townsite a little more intimately. But, experiencing a Ghost Town in the dark definitely made for a unique end to our time in Nevada. We even saw some Wild Burros amongst the ruins. Rhyolite is 35 miles from the Death Valley National Park Furnace…
An Area 51 Amargosa Valley Sunset – Amargosa Valley, Nevada – 12/06/2019
Something is definitely going on in the skies over Area 51! As we were leaving the Area 51 Alien Center, the sunset was INCREDIBLE. I mean, like, WOW. Dare I say, other-worldly WOW. As we continued North on US95, the colors just kept getting more and more intense! As the vibrant skies silhouetted the mountains beneath, I’d say it was a sunset we’ll never forget!

US Route 95 North – Las Vegas, Nevada into Amargosa Valley, Nevada – 12/06/2019
Heading North out of Las Vegas, Nevada, US Route 95 is an incredibly scenic highway! Through vast desert landscapes, you’ll be surrounded by geology that makes you feel like you’re on another planet! 20 miles North of Vegas, along the Eastern side of US95, lies the Tule Springs Fossil Beds National Monument. From there, you’ll have The Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, and then Mount Charleston and The Spring Mountains National Recreation Area along the Western Side. So much to see. So much to do! And the sunsets are brilliant!
Bad Owl Coffee Roasters – A Harry Potter Themed Coffee Shop – Henderson, Nevada – 12/06/2019
Bad Owl Coffee Roasters… Is Oh, So Good! One of these days I’m going to get around to making a “Best of the Best Coffee Shops” List… And, thus far, Bad Owl would be in THE Number One position… Their selection of Signature Drinks was out of this world… And they were GORGEOUS! This was actually our first experience with a Cold Brew. And I still dream of its tantalizingly delicious awesomeness! There was no way we could narrow down our choices any more than we did. We literally walked out of here with SIX drinks! And every single drink…
Sights and Sounds of Hoover Dam – Hover Dam, Nevada – 12/06/2019
The walk across the dam, and the sights of Lake Mead and the Mike O’Callaghan–Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge, are the more commonly iconic shots from a trip to Hoover Dam. But, even without taking the tour, there is still a lot more to see and do! A museum with interactive exhibits showcasing the flood control and irrigation benefits for farmers south of the dam in the Colorado River Basin; monuments; sculptures; memorials to workers that dedicated their lives to the construction of this marvel; and even a touching tribute to “The Dog Who Owned a Dam,” the beloved mascot of…

Vegetarian Creativity on the Continental Breakfast – Boulder City, Nevada – 12/06/2019
We always adore every opportunity we get for fancy French pastries, or colorful, flavorful doughnuts. But, breakfast is also a little awesome, when it’s FREE. One of the biggest complaints you can read about in hotel reviews is the quality of a continental breakfast. And, yeah, they’re not usually serving up French Almond Croissants, or Blueberry Crepes a la mode… But, a little creativity can go a long way! When you have one kid that’s a practicing Vegetarian, and blossoming Vegan, sometimes you have to use a LOT of creativity! But, hey, we got the job done! Whole Wheat English…

In-n-Out Burger – Reno, Nevada – 09/14/2018
