We’re still trying to spend as much time as we can getting acquainted with Athens and North Georgia based Farmers’ Markets and Produce Markets.
This morning, we hit up the Oconee Farmers’ Market in Downtown Watkinsville, Georgia in Oconee County, just outside of Athens, Georgia.
It was a smaller gathering, but we enjoyed the vendors immensely.
I guess produce season is slowing down, but there was a lovely selection of baked goods and prepared dinner items.
We always make our rounds and then strategize our purchases.
We decided on some more heirloom eggplant, in both white and purple; and some banana peppers from a produce vendor.
For our savory items, we went with the squash and zucchini quiche; and handmade spinach and tomato pastas, with Bolognese sauce and a sausage and pepper sauce.
Then, for dessert, it was hard to say no to the amazing Almond Shortbread, a Pumpkin Pound Cake, and a Buttermilk Pie.
The vendors all offer generous samples of their awesomely delicious works of art, and the folks in charge of the Market offer free coffee and tea. Before we called it a day, we grabbed a few t-shirts to show our support!
Thanks Oconee Farmers’ Market!
We’ll see you again soon!
