After checking out the indoor museum of Interpretive Exhibits, we enjoyed the Island Trail hike at Walnut Canyon National Monument in Flagstaff, Arizona.
When we think of the American Southwest, we tend to think of hot, dry desert landscapes, so experiencing Walnut Canyon in the snow added to the depth of understanding what life was really like for Native Cliff-Dwellers in the area throughout the different eras of history.
The Island Trail allows you to get deep into the heart of Walnut Canyon to take in the geology, plant life, wildlife, and Human History of this beautifully unique place!
