Flagstaff, Arizona is one of my favorite locations for hitting National Parks, and getting to experience a multitude of geological wonders within a minimal radius.
Of the 3 parks in the Flagstaff vicinity, you have Walnut Canyon National Monument, as well as Sunset Crater National Monument, and Wupatki National Monument.
They all offer vastly different glimpses into geology, habitat, and cultural history.
And they are all conveniently located along the route to the Southern Rim of the Grand Canyon National Park.
So, if you find yourself considering a National Park experience in Arizona, be sure to allow yourself enough time in Flagstaff to enjoy all 3 of the National Monuments!
Walnut Canyon National Monument offers Interpretive Exhibits on the Human History of Native Americans living within the canyon walls. You can then enjoy your choice of hikes to see and experience it all for yourself!
Don’t forget your National Park Passport Book Cancellation Stamps, and your Junior Ranger Badge!
