American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls – Luna Island – Niagara Falls, New York – 4/9/2010

What we collectively refer to as Niagara Falls is actually three different falls.

On the Canadian Side, you will find the largest falls of them all, known as Horseshoe Falls.

On the American side, you have the larger of the US falls, called American Falls; and then you will find Bridal Veil Falls, the smallest falls of all three.

The two American waterfalls are separated by a piece of land known as Luna Island.

As you see in the first photo, you can walk across the portion of the Niagara River that creates Bridal Veil Falls, and stand in the middle of the two!

When visiting the Niagara Falls area, be sure to walk or drive out to Goat Island, the largest island with many park and attraction facilities.

And then walk over the bridge to Luna Island to stand in between American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls!

It’s a powerful experience to stand centered in the midst of the mist of this gorgeous American wonder!
