Ranger Mary with the Big South Fork NRRA in the Jamestown / Oneida, Tennessee districts is SUCH a valuable asset to the community with her fabulous educational programs and interactive learning opportunities!
On this particular day, she taught us about the different owls that can be found living in the Big South Fork.
She let us meet and interact with several “permanent residents” of the park, including Eastern Screech Owls and Barred Owls.
Afterwards, we culminated the activity with an Owl Pellet Dissection Project!
We carefully loosened the bits of undigested material, and identified the specimens with a handy chart!
