The Dakota people, led by Chief Whitecap, came to Saskatchewan in 1862, settling at Moose Woods, the present location of the Whitecap Dakota First Nation.
John Lake, a stock broker and former Methodist minister, traveled west in spring of 1882, searching for a place to establish a new colony.
Chief Whitecap helped John Lake determine the location of his settlement.
From that early meeting of these two great leaders, came the foundation of the communities of Saskatoon, Nutana, and Riversdale, which ultimately formed the modern city of Saskatoon!
The Founders celebrates the history and the cultural diversity in Saskatoon and the surrounding areas!
After spending a day with the wildlife in Prince Albert National Park, we headed back into Saskatoon for the rest of the evening!
