Windmill Dutch Imports Gifts & Food – Helen, Georgia – 06/19/2019
Such a cute little shop that I’d never noticed before! It’s right next to our favorite restaurant, but tucked back into the corner. The employee told me the owner has been in this location for over 30 years! She was very kind, and helped us choose a handmade wooden tulip, in Ribby Purple, for our souvenir. We’ll definitely come back when we can spend a little more time picking out some delicious Dutch chocolates and desserts! They all looked so YUMMY! And on an interesting note, never before in my life had I heard of Stroopwafel until I saw it…

I am absolutely FASCINATED by watching the live demonstrations of glassblowers performing their unique sort of magic; and I could stand for hours, completely mesmerized, as they craft their gorgeous works of art!

All Things Vintage – Livingston, Tennessee – 03/18/2019
Heading back to the Tennessee House from an afternoon appointment in Cookeville, I decided to take advantage of the lovely day and cruise home the scenic route instead of just jumping on I-40. Highway 111 North takes you into the small town of Livingston, Tennessee. I got there with a few minutes to spare, and I invested those minutes into browsing through one of the many antique shops located along the Downtown Square. I hit All Things Vintage; and even though I only had a few bucks left to my name, I lucked across some inexpensive costume jewelry, and picked…

What a cool experience for a kid that has enjoyed collecting knives over the years! We did not arrive in time for the actual factory tour; but we still had access to a viewing platform overlooking the production floor, as well as exhibits detailing the company’s history. We spent some time perusing the beautiful options in the gift shop, and scored some GREAT deals on “slightly imperfect” knives. We would love to return some day to enjoy the full tour experience. But, if you time it right, hopefully you can let us know how it was! For more information on…

Carriage Ride Through New Orleans – New Orleans, Louisiana – 02/17/2010
One of my absolute favorite things to do in a city is to relax and enjoy a carriage ride! I find them to be incredibly affordable, and a good value for the information your personal guide will share with you along the route. A little local lore, mixed in with some unique historical facts. You may very well get into side streets or tighter alleys that you might not otherwise access via car or on foot. And if you, as a parent, are used to being the driver, the photographer, and the kid herder, all-in-one, carriage rides are a GREAT…
