Explorium of Lexington – Lexington, Kentucky – 04/08/2010

Everyone knows that Reciprocal Memberships are awesome.

You buy one membership from one museum location, and you get FREE or discounted museum admission to HUNDREDS of other participating locations!

And that makes traveling to your destination more fun because you have so many things to do without breaking the bank!

That’s what we call Maximizing YOUR Family’s Fun Efficiency!

But another great perk of maintaining such memberships, is that it also gives you free or inexpensive places to stop along your route…

It really breaks up a long drive to be able to spend a few hours in a kids’ museum letting the gang learn, play, create, make friends, or just burn some energy!

And then, once back in the car, they are more content, less bored, and might even sleep better!

I call that a win on so many levels!

This particular museum, The Explorium of Lexington, is always a fun stop when heading north from our house in Tennessee.

Lots of hands on, interactive exhibits make for incredible learning opportunities.

Blocks, puzzles, water play, optical illusions…

Pretend to be a doctor, a dentist, or even a horse jockey!

I mean, it is Lexington, Kentucky, in the heart of Blue Grass Country!

And so much more!

Located in Historic Victorian Square, which also connects to Rupp Arena, there are also loads of shops, restaurants, and other museums to check out while you are there!

There’s even a mall-style food court near the arena if you are looking for a quick and easy snack or lunch grab.

Easy access from the interstate into downtown, inexpensive parking in the garage, and an indoor walkway through most of the areas!

One of our favorite stops, indeed!
