We entered Gallup, New Mexico in search of one of my favorite guilty pleasures!
Navajo Tacos!
One of the best parts of the Southwest!
A quick Google Search netted us Earl’s Family Restaurant.
When we pulled up in the parking lot, and even entered through the front door, I was a little underwhelmed that the ambiance of the place didn’t feel very authentically “Southwestern” to me. It was more of a cafeteria type atmosphere, and reminded me a little of eating dinner with my Grandmother when I was a kid.
But, don’t let first impressions fool you!
This was a fantastic experience!
The waiter was the kindest, most patient, most incredible human being I’ve ever met. He single-handedly made this experience magical for us!
We enjoyed the Navajo Tacos, with meat, beans, lettuce, tomato, onions, and cheese, piled high atop deliciously fluffy frybread!
We also had a Navajo Burger, which was a beef patty and all the toppings, lovingly enclosed in frybread.
We topped off the meal with accompaniments of nachos and salsa, a bowl of beans, and a side of fries.
The other cool thing about dining at Earl’s is that the restaurant is full of local Native artists with an absolutely gorgeous selection of handcrafted jewelry and other items.
There are so many beautiful pieces from which to choose, you might want to pace yourself.
But, definitely, support these hardworking artists by taking a few pieces of their art home with you!
They will quite likely be some of your favorite souvenirs from your Southwestern Experience!
Just as Earl’s was one of our favorite dining experiences on this trip!
We will DEFINITELY eat here again!
