We spent a while on this trip trying to find a smaller, more authentic Cajun-style restaurant, heavy on local flavor, but a little light-handed on the tourist pricing…
We finally found Crazy ‘Bout Crawfish Cajun Cafe, and are SUPER glad we did!
They had a GREAT Sampler Platter, that let us try a little bit of everything…
Some of the things we were already familiar with, like Gumbo, and Etouffee, but we were able to expand our horizons with some newer-to-us dishes, like Maque Choux.
Also, we tried ALLIGATOR!
I’m not sure if any of us really liked it…
But, hey, it’s all about TRYING new things!
I think you can tell by the look on Trillian’s face, that she wasn’t a fan.
In all honesty, it does “taste like chicken” but, dark meat chicken, and a little fattier, and a little, um, something else…
It wasn’t terrible, but I don’t think it would be something we’d order again any time soon.
But, the rest of the food choices, and the service, were phenomenal.
Oh, and the Cajun Power sauce? Yes!! Absolutely delicious! Mix it with a little mayo, and you’ve got an incredible dipping sauce for tons of goodies!
AND, we got cool little souvenir pirogues for the take home!
A fun little lunch experience, indeed!
